Royals sign former QB Pat White to minor league contract

09/10/2010 - Chicago, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Kansas City Royals have signed former NFL quarterback Pat White to a minor league contract.

White starred at quarterback for West Virginia, and was a second-round pick of Miami's in the 2009 NFL Draft. He played in 13 games for the Dolphins last season, running for 81 yards on 21 carries, but was released by the team late last week.

White, 24, now joins the Royals' minor league system in an attempt to break into the majors as an outfielder.

White is no stranger to baseball, as he was drafted multiple times. He was selected in the fourth round of the 2004 draft by the Angels before attending West Virginia. White was chosen by the Angels again in the 27th round of the 2007 draft, was selected by the Reds in the 49th round of 2008's draft, then was taken by the Yankees in the 48th round in 2009.
