12/27/2009 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Buffalo Sabres will try to avoid their longest losing streak in over a month when they visit the St. Louis Blues for tonight's interconference clash at Scottrade Center.
The Sabres have dropped their last two games and are coming off Saturday's close setback against visiting Ottawa. Buffalo, which is five points ahead of Boston for first place in the Northeast Division, also has losses in three of its last four outings.
Buffalo lost a 3-2 decision to the Senators as Alex Kovalev notched the winner in the shootout at HSBC Arena. Kovalev began the final session with a nifty backhander under the crossbar, then Thomas Vanek's shot for Buffalo sailed wide. Mike Fisher followed with a goal, before Tim Connolly's wrister hit Pascal Leclaire in the pads to end the contest.
Vanek and Jason Pominville scored for the Sabres, while Ryan Miller took the loss despite a 38-save performance.
The Sabres also lost leading scorer Derek Roy to an upper-body injury early in the third period. Roy, who is pacing Buffalo with 29 points, did not return to Saturday's game and was held back from making the trip to St. Louis.
The Blues, meanwhile, will try to bounce back after suffering a loss in the finale of a four-game road trip Saturday in Minnesota. St. Louis had won three straight at the start of the swing.
Tonight marks the first test on a four-game homestand for the Blues, who are just 6-11-2 as the host this year. St. Louis has lost three of its last five at Scottrade Center.
St. Louis dropped a 4-3 decision in regulation to the Wild as Guillaume Latendresse notched a pair of goals for Minnesota.
Patrik Berglund, Andy McDonald and David Perron scored for the Blues and Chris Mason allowed four goals on 20 shots in defeat.
The Sabres ended a 12-game series' winless streak against the Blues last year, notching a 4-3 home win on November 12. That victory improved Buffalo to 1-10 with a pair of ties in the last 13 overall matchups against St. Louis. The Sabres are 0-4 with a tie in their last five trips to the Gateway City and Buffalo's last win in St. Louis came on October 1, 1997.

Kurt Warner to start, Matt Leinart to watch
Despite the debate that's swirling , Kurt Warner will remain the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dennis Green said today. The Arizona Cardinals are the +7 point underdog at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com for this Sunday's game.
Green's comment came in a statement released by the team following an ESPN report that Green decided that rookie Matt Leinart would replace Warner as starter for Sunday's game at Atlanta.
"Generally talking about the starting lineup is not something we do," Green told the AP. "However, given the speculation that was out there we want to make it clear. We're disappointed after last week, but we still expect to be a playoff football team and we fully expect Kurt Warner to be the quarterback that leads us. That has not changed."
