Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Avalanche signed defenseman Shane O'Brien to a one-year contract Wednesday. O'Brien played with the Nashville Predators last season, recording two goals and seven assists in 80 games. The 27-year-old was selected by the Anaheim Ducks with the 250th overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and has appeared in 379 career NHL games with Anaheim, Tampa Bay, Vancouver and Nashville.

Last year, Sexton registered four goals and nine assists in 47 games with the Ducks. He also totaled nine goals and eight assists in 17 games with Syracuse of the American Hockey League.
